I am a witch with over 25 years of experience. I discovered Wicca during one of my early wanderings into what was a relatively new world of the internet, around 1995. I felt an instant affinity with so much of what I read, and spent hours upon days surfing for more information, visiting bookstores for new age books, and pretty much devouring anything I could find. I eventually joined a coven, and spent the next two years in what was the most spiritually fulfilling time of my life. We even recorded a CD of pagan chants and music that is still available today, and played at some pagan festivals!
I allowed myself for a time to be drawn away from my spirituality by a growing disillusionment with certain people that I relied upon for guidance, and redirected my energy towards all sorts of new, shiny things, like relationships and my career. During that time, I found myself cut off from the more spiritual part of myself, and even questioning: did all of those experiences actually happen the way I remember them? Deep down, I knew that they did.
After a few years of material success, finding myself unfilfilled in the spiritual desert to which I had banished myself, I re-dedicated myself to the God and Goddess. I left a high-paying but soul-sucking career, and with my amazing and supportive husband built a beautiful home environment for my family, filled with warm, loving energy and quality time. I began rebuilding my Book of Shadows, filling it with new spells of my own as I added to the happiness, success and protection of my home and family. But once I arrived at this amazing, peaceful place, I realized I was ready to do more.
The idea of starting a metaphysical store has been with me since just after I visited my first one. The incredible smells, the feeling of mystery and the rising of my spirits, the unique (at the time) items on the shelves – it all overwhelmed me as soon as I stepped foot into the store. It instantly became my favorite place. For years, I wanted to open one. But the costs and risks associated with such an endeavor put it out of my reach.
Then I thought about opening an online store. It was much more doable. I’m capable of building my own website, and with my husband’s assistance, capable of building a really beautiful site. But I was put off by the thought that I wouldn’t be successful; there’s too much competition, I don’t know enough about advertisingā¦ My husband and I still dreamed of a store, but it sat on the backburner.
Finally, I decided that I would do it. I would start online, and if I did well enough, I might even open my own brick-and-mortar store. But the big motivator for me is my absolute love of helping others. This, I can do. I can offer spells to those that need them, supplies to both experienced and budding witches, and accessories to those that simply feel drawn to the witch aesthetic. I can offer a place for like-minded people to meet up and chat, and I can offer a little bit of information to those that seek it. I can find some one-of-a-kind items to replace the common silver altar chalice with an engraved pentacle, tiny 3-footed cauldron, and poorly made wood-handled athame that were the staple of “witch kits” when I started practicing. I can offer the products I use for preparing my body for ritual, the lip balm I craft for adding sweetness and projecting love when I kiss my family, the cuticle oil I make to protect my hard-working witchy hands.
The truth is, one can honor the God and Goddess and work spells without any fancy supplies or tools. You can base your workings around what you have on hand, and they will be effective, because the strongest magick comes from the spark of the divine that is within each and every one of us. But building that energy to its fullest potential requires the right state of mind, and when you connect with your altar because it reflects and amplifies the energy you are bringing forth; when you have the exact mix of herbs, crystals, oils and incenses to add their own unique influences – this is the perfect confluence of circumstances to supercharge your spellcasting.
This store is just me. It is not a big-budget franchise that orders mass-produced items in bulk. I don’t have workers standing by to fill orders.
Every spell bottle and charm is created by me, personally, in a ritual I use to charge each and every spell. All ingredients used in spells are smudged and cleansed in the full moon before use. Every spell I do has woven into it “Harm None,” to prevent accidental or intentional harm with its use. I select the products I sell with each of you in mind. I want you to be happy; I want you to feel that spark of the divine within you when you use one of my spells, or place an item on your altar.
Blessings & Light,
Crystal
